1. What is your goal?
We sometimes start an online business feeling reluctant to buy manuals, books, CDs, or programs simply because we cannot afford it. Discover what your goal is FIRST- "Do I want buy leads? Do I want my own webpage? Do I want to build business under $500?" Learn by reading online and maybe from one book, which may cost nothing if you borrow it from the library. Find where you CAN start and start learning your business from there.
2. Network with Free Online Services
And where better to start learning? Online. Free articles are listed on Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Better Networker, etc. You can track blogs and updated articles for reading. Know the latest trends and where to market by simply following professionals, locals, and even starters. Follow everyone!..until you have narrowed down your top favorites and then focus.
3. Don't Outsource ALL the Work (yet)
My husband spent days figuring out HTML to create our website. I am sure a professional could have charged us only $150, but we used that money for different materials, more emails, etc…you get the point. Before our webpage, we started with Myspace (which I felt took just as long). It was recommended to use a Myspace web designer to create the webpage for $50 or so, depending on designs. But no, we wanted to save the money and where did that money go?... Advertising for Google Adwords. Do everything you can yourself to save, learn, and then teach others along the way. Outsource later when you have money so your time is better spent on prospects and growing your business even bigger!
4. Learn Google Adwords
Learning Google is essential. Google will help you cut your marketing cost by analyzing which ads do better? Don't track your leads by pen or pencil, but we like to see numbers and stats - good stats. We like to see things working and people clicking. Utilizing the tricks from Google can help you find where the market is and which ads to keep...And they even help you brainstorm the hottest keywords used online. Leads will come flying your way once you make Google your friend.
5. Track your Leads Diligently
Know what you are paying out for clicks, leads, advertising, AND what you are getting back. How would you know where to cut cost if you don't become the all mighty diligent worker for your business. Yes, it means caring about your numbers because once you do, money goes straight to your pocket. It is YOUR business and YOUR money so make sure you don't pay people more for no returns on investments.
6. Email Marketing
I am sure majority of us has at least 1 email account even if it's at your J.O.B. So why not connect with others when they are ALREADY checking their email? Consistently contact your prospects with daily ads, marketing materials, and capture lead information. If your prospect list is small, then I say email directly, which is free. Autoresponder will come later when you roll in hundreds of names and or product requests. BUT don't email everyday with irrelevant material or sales pitches because others will feel you are becoming the online "S" word - SPAMMER. Don't do it folks.
7. Learn from others
Whether networking online, in person, or anywhere basically…ask questions! "How do you do this? Where did you find that? How did you get info on…?" People in online network marketing will give you answers most of the time because many are helpful. People like to share their success, while others don't so just keep moving along. You may find friends along the way that will help you build business together. Why not become an affiliate or mentor-ee? They have done the work and will have tips to share (like us)…they might not even stop talking! People in the real business are excited ALL the time…now don't get me started!
